The 4Boards Team

Dan Simpson moves to Gaastra / Tabou.

After Krafty moved to Surf Sales Ltd on March 3rd 2008, what better news could follow the disappointment of losing him? Well, Dan Simpson moving to Gaastra / Tabou certainly softens the blow. Dan will be sponsored by these brands for 2008 through 4Boards using Tabou Mantas with Choco fins powered by Gaastra Vapors for his racing. Dan is already well known around the racing circuit, and his mantelpiece is well stocked accordingly. Dan will be looking to step things up in 2008 following excellent results over the last few years, so it is an exciting time for us all as we look forward to watching the season unfold, on both the national & also the international circuits. At 17 years of age, Dan has time on his side and has a great future in windsurfing, 4Boards wish him well for 2008 and are looking forward to a fruitful sponsorship partnership.

Steve Jarvis (SJ) joins the 4Boards Team.

4Boards are very pleased to announce that Steve (SJ) Jarvis has joined the 4Boards Team with sponsorship from Fanatic / North. At only 19, SJ is an emerging young wave sailor who has achieved a number of good results already and has turned a few heads in competitions. He is in his first year of studying Oceanography at Southampton University, and is actively taking part in Student Windsurfing Association events and will be doing some wave competitions during 2008.   To “up his game” SJ spent 3 months in Pozo last summer which has certainly paid off.

2007 results include:

3rd Tiree youth 2007

4th Wittering youth 20073rd Four Nations Youth overall 20071st SWA Exeter Wave x 20072nd SWA Cardiff Wave 20071st SWA Wave Series overall 2008We look forward to working with Steve, and we are confident that he will soon be up there challenging wave-sailing’s finest.

Robin Penna.

Robin will continue as our speed / formula sailor, his aim for 2008 is to retain his title (winner in 2005, 2006 & 2007) as leading Master at Weymouth Speed Week, and also improve on his very impressive 6th overall (only just over a couple of knots behind Bjorn Dunkerbeck). Robin will also be returning to the UKWA racing scene during 2008 and will no doubt be up there in the running for prizes again.

Caroline Radway.

Caroline came 3rd equal in the UKWA Wave Series in 2007, depsite also being very busy setting up her own business - she has taken the plunge and left the London smoke and office grind behind in favour of something more risky but altogether more suited to her active lifestyle! Caroline is now a  freelance Personal Trainer based (conveniently) on the South Coast -  see  www.perfectfitforlife.com for more details. Hopefully she can make the most of being her own boss and take part in more Wave Sailing contests in 2008, on her Tabou and Gaastra kit, knee operations permitting!

Avril and Ian Gibbons.

Ian and Avril Gibbons will be balancing the demands of school exams with competitive windsurfing in 2008. They will continue to race nationally and coach juniors in the South-West on BIC Techno 293s. Ian recently qualified as a windsurfing instructor. Having delivered results of 2nd in the European Championships and 6th in the World Championships Avril will be qualifying as a windsurfing instructor this summer. They will both be aiming for the RYA Youth and Masters in Weymouth 2008. This event will form a combined National Championships for both the RYA and the UKWA for 2008. Next year they will be concentrating on the BIC Techno World Championships in 2009 also in Weymouth.

Ian and Avril will be helping 4Boards customers who buy their BIC Technos and new BIC One Design rigs from 4Boards to set up their kit and showing them how to get the best out of it to achieve their windsurfing ambitions.
